Pipella Law is proud to have sponsored the 2017 SABIS “Elf Yourself!” Christmas Basket Program. By sponsoring low-income Southern Alberta Brain Injury Society (SABIS) clients and their families through the “Elf Yourself!” Program, Pipella Law has helped those in need receive some much-needed warmth and cheer this holiday season.
“Elf Yourself!” Christmas Basket Program
The “Elf Yourself!” Program is open to all—anyone and everyone can get involved in the event by sponsoring a deserving SABIS client (or the family of a SABIS client) for as little as $100.
After matching with a client, sponsors have the option of delegating the shopping to the industrious “SABIS elves,” or directly purchasing items from client wish lists. Wish lists are divided into basic items (like grocery store gift cards, toiletries, transit tickets, and winter clothes) and luxury items (like sporting or event tickets, toys, and store gift cards)—SABIS maintains a list of the items most commonly requested by their clients, and are happy to assist in filling up the baskets.
SABIS Gives All Year Round
But the relief offered by SABIS doesn’t end with the holiday season; “incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta in 1985 as a non-profit registered charity, SABIS offers lifelong supports and services. SABIS promotes open and inclusive communities for all persons regardless of the severity of their brain injury.”
SABIS is an organization that “provides support, coordination of services and education to survivors of acquired brain injury (ABI) and their families living in the Calgary Region.” ABI impacts thousands of Albertans every year, and is the leading cause of disability in 18-40 year olds—but SABIS believes that survivors of ABI deserve the dignity of living as independently as possible.
Pipella Law: Proud to Support “Elf Yourself!”
Some of the most common causes of ABI are vehicular collisions and household falls—tragedies that can happen to anyone. Just as organizations like SABIS strive to aid those suffering from ABI to lead independent lives, Pipella Law works to ensure that acquired brain injuries caused by the negligence or actions of others are financially compensated.
Strong community support combined with financial security eases the trauma of acquired brain injuries and let the afflicted live life on their terms.
As tireless advocates for the disabled both in, and out of, the courtroom, Pipella Law is proud to have supported the “Elf Yourself!” Christmas Basket Program.
